TO RIO JORCO ESTATE COFFEE
We are third generation Costa Rican's dedicated to producing the highest quality Tarrazu high altitude Shade Grown coffee for those who demand the best while at the same time maintaining an ecological balance with nature. 3/4 of our farm is dedicated as a private reserve. We follow in the rich tradition of our Grandfather Jorge Zeledon Castro who produced some of the finest coffee in Costa RIca. His rare vision selected the location for Hacienda Rio Jorco, whose special land, River and micro climates produces world class coffee. When you buy coffee remember it is a living product produced with the loving care of families, whose livelihood depends on the sale for a fair price...Peak Season for coffee production is this month

TO RIO JORCO ESTATE COFFEE

Rio Jorco river runs in the middle of Rio Jorco Estate Coffee farm.

The backbone of Rio Jorco, our workers.
We believe in a "fair share" price, the pickers get a better price, the "partner producers*" get a better price, while employment is provided for the families that for generations have made our farm special. Our long term employees were each given a piece of land to build their home on and grow their own coffee. The land for the elementary was donated by the farm, the high school is supported in many ways and several scholarships are provided for deserving students. These are just examples of supporting our workers as well as the community.
Last year we produced 35 micro- lots from specific areas of our farm and small "partner producers*" . Five of the lots were from the "Los Lobos" area of the farm. The coffee picking season for 2012-2013 crop is at its peak right now. We will have many excellent micro-lots for this 2012-2013 coffee crop. See current pictures of this years crop on the Happenings page of this website.
We have made changes to continue to improve our quality and produce an even better coffee. Many things have changed since 1920 when don Jorge took over a small coffee processing plant in the new town of Vuelta de Jorco. One thing that has not changed is our commitment to quality and the production of the highest quality Estate coffee.
